TYPICAL ITINERARY

Set sail from Valparaiso (Santiago) on your 50 nights Patagonia, Brazil, the Amazon and Caribbean cruise to:

Puerto Montt, Chile
The lake country of southern Chile seems to be altogether another world from the deserts of the north. The Lake District is graced with spectacular scenery, including the magnificent snowcapped volcanic cone, Mt. Osorno. Puerto Montt serves as the principal port for this region and as a gateway for cruises southward into Chile's fjords.

Castro, Isla Grande de Chiloe,Chile
Castro is a city and commune in the Chilean island of Chiloé Island. Castro is the capital of the Chiloé Province in the Los Lagos Region.

Puerto Chacabuco, Chile
The wild and beautiful Aysén District of Chile lies south of Chiloe and Puerto Montt. Here you find cliffs that drop into immense river valleys, numerous waterfalls and ravines that open into vast valleys, while the Andes form a continuous barrier. Puerto Chacabuco is a popular entry port to the Aysén region. It lies at the eastern end of a very narrow fjord and has replaced Puerto Aysén as the main shipping port and ferry terminal to this region. Puerto Chacabuco is also a departure point for sailings to Laguna San Rafael. Local vessels make the scenic trip through the channels and islands of Western Patagonia.

Chilean Fjords

Amalia Glacier

Strait of Magellan

Punta Arenas, Chile
Red roofs and smoking chimneys decorate the gently sloping hillsides of Punta Arenas (Sandy Point), the bustling center of one of the world's largest sheep farming areas. This pleasant community welcomes you with attractive parks and delightful Victorian architecture.

Cockburn Channel

Ushuaia, Argentina
The southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia is the capital of Argentine Tierra del Fuego and an important naval base boasting a strategic as well as a picturesque location on the shores of Ushuaia Bay and the Beagle Channel. This rustic coastal town is set among waterfalls, glaciers, snow-clad mountains and beech forests, and the nutrient-rich local waters abound with marine life. Though the houses here are painted warm, pastel colors, the weather is chilly year-round and winter sports such as downhill and cross-country skiing and skating are popular. Ushuaia's principal industries are raising sheep, logging, fishing and trapping. It became a boomtown with 30,000 residents in the late 1980's when the government sought to increase Argentina's presence near Antarctica by giving tax breaks to citizens who settled here.

Pt. Stanley, Falkland Islands
About 300 miles off the coast of Argentina lay the Falkland Islands. This archipelago is comprised of two large islands, East Falkland and West Falkland, and about 700 other smaller islands spread out over approximately 4,700 square miles. The capital city of Port Stanley, located on East Falkland Island, is the islands' main commercial center and hub of the road system. The Falklands are well-known for the war that was fought here in 1982 between Argentina and the United Kingdom over the disputed Falklands, South Georgia, and the South Sandwich Islands. Beginning with Argentina's invasion and its subsequent occupation of the islands ended after 74 days, the conflict resulted in the deaths of almost 1,000 Argentine and British troops and civilians before ending with Argentina's surrender. The Falklands are a popular destination due to their interesting history, geology, ecology, and flora and fauna.

Montevideo, Uruguay
Tucked in between Brazil and Argentina, the republic of Uruguay has nevertheless maintained its own identity and traditions. As South America's second smallest country, it has been called a city surrounded by a big ranch. Montevideo has also been referred to as "The Switzerland of South America," for its same secretive bank system guaranteed by law. Uruguay is principally middle class and boasts the most highly educated citizens on the continent.

Buenos Aires, Argentina
Founded in 1536, Buenos Aires was administered by a Spanish viceroy for nearly three centuries before winning its independence in 1816. A sleepy port town for most of that time, it wasn't until the turn of the 20th century that the city finally emerged as an important shipping center. Today, Argentina's democratically elected government has made it South America's safest (and most expensive) country. This cosmopolitan city is characterized by broad boulevards with huge shade trees, beautiful residential districts, plazas containing monuments and fountains, interspersed with 20th-century high-rise buildings. It is a truly great walking city.

Paraty, Brazil
This small village puts on a real show when you are invited to an exclusive Seabourn "Boi Bumba" festival. Similar to Rio's Carnival celebrations, here schools prepare all year to out-do each other with extravagant costumes, often crafted from local materials, and exuberant music and dance.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Its stunning setting and joyous lust for life make Rio a cidade maravilhosa, "marvelous city." Ipanema, Copacabana, samba - the words alone conjure Brazilian paradise.

Armacao dos Buzios, Brazil
Armacao dos Buzios is a resort town and a municipality located in the state of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Vitoria, Brazil
Vitória is the capital of the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. It is located on a small island within a bay where a few rivers meet the sea.

Salvador da Bahia, Brazil
If Rio is the heart of Brazil and Sao Paulo is its brain, Salvador is its spirit. It was here in 1549 that the Portuguese founded the capital city and chief port of their new colony. Vast fortunes were made through the slave trade, and the introduction of a large African population had an important effect on the local culture. Salvador is built in two levels, with the most appealing being the upper city, the lovely colonial neighborhood of Pelourinho, which in recent years has been completely restored to its former glory.

Recife, Brazil
Recife, meaning "reef," was named for the great natural mass of coral which lies off its coast. The city is made up of three sections: the mainland, the peninsula, and the island. Bridges of stone and iron connect the three. Founded by fishermen and sailors in the first half of the 16th century, the city grew rapidly along with the sugarcane and slave trades. The city continues to grow, and now skyscrapers are crowding out the beautiful colonial mansions of the sugar era. Today the city is known as a beach resort, and it is one of northeast Brazil's most popular tourist destinations.

Natal, Brazil
Natal was built on the right bank of the River Potenji, right where the river meets the Atlantic; the soil is very sandy, with dunes and bays protected by reefs which appear all along the shore line. This "City of Dunes" invites you to ride in a dune buggy over huge sand dunes with sweeping views of the sea.

Santarem, Brazil
Philipsburg is the capital of St. Maarten, the Dutch half of an island, which has been peacefully ruled by both the Netherlands and France since 1648. Philipsburg, and the Dutch side in general, moves at a faster pace than does its French counterpart, Marigot. The economy of St. Maarten, once solidly based in agriculture, now enjoys the benefits of a rapidly expanding tourist trade. The warm weather, inviting beaches and tempting casinos add up to a most desirable destination.

Anavilhanas, Brazil
Here you are truly in the heart of the Amazon. Narrow channels cut between islands faced with emerald walls of jungle. Thread the creeks in a native canoe, fish for piranha or visit the amazing tree-top Ariau Jungle Lodge. A perfect location for an exclusive jungle beach party.

Manaus, Brazil
Manaus is a city in Brazil, the capital of the state of Amazonas.

Parintins, Brazil
Parintins is a city in the far east of the Amazonas state, Brazil. It is located in the municipality of the same name, which is part of a microregion also named Parintins.

Curua Una, Brazil
Explore this tributary of the Amazon to discover how the local people, or Caboclos live. See flooded forests, pastures with water buffaloes and a wide variety of homes from simple thatched huts to brick houses with gardens.

Devil's Island, French Guiana
Devil's Island is the smallest and northernmost island of the three Îles du Salut located about 6 nautical miles off the coast of French Guiana (South America).

Bridgetown, Barbados
Barbados has retained many of the trappings of its British colonial heritage. Judges and barristers wear proper robes and wigs, police don helmets styled after London bobbies and cricket remains a national passion. Barbados also has all the sporting appeal of the rest of the Caribbean, with pristine beaches, powerful surf and crystal clear waters. Brightly colored homes and hibiscus flowers mingle with mahogany trees and English churches dating back to the 17th century.

Terre-de-Haut, Guadeloupe
Terre-de-Haut is a commune in the French overseas department of Guadeloupe, on Terre-de-Haut Island.

Gustavia (St. Barts), France
Tiny St. Barts, as it is commonly called, lies 125 miles northwest of the French island of Guadeloupe, of which it is a dependency. Its geographic features include steep, green, once-active volcano hills, deep valleys, and beautiful beaches. Founded by the French, ceded to Sweden then returned to France, the toy-scaled capital of Gustavia is built around the harbor on the island's southwest coast. Many of the island's inhabitants are descendants of settlers from Brittany, Normandy and Sweden. Today they operate small inns, cafes, restaurants and boutiques that are housed in old buildings of Swedish colonial and French Creole architecture. Too small for most cruise ships, Gustavia's harbor is a favorite layover for sailing yachts, and with prices well beyond the means of the masses, visits are mostly limited to a few hours of day-trippers from nearby St. Martin/St. Maarten. The majority of visitors staying on the island still come from among the privileged who treasure the laid-back atmosphere and small-gem perfection of St. Barts.

Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke British Virigin Islands
There are approximately 40 British Virgin Islands (the exact number varies from authority to authority), many of which are uninhabited. Some have only a handful of residents. Jost Van Dyke has a small population of its own families: the Turners, Grants, Ringes and Callwoods to name the majority. The desire to continue in the old ways is strong here, and "Jost" looks much as it must have looked 100 or 200 years ago. This archipelago is pristine and traffic light free.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, US
From the bustling city center to the sandy beaches that seem to form a halo around this Floridian playground, Fort Lauderdale is alive with activity. The waterways are dotted with luxury yachts from harbors around the world, and exclusive homes line the waterfront. The posh boutiques on Las Olas Boulevard cater to the sophisticated sun-worshipers who enjoy "the season" in Florida.

Booking information

To reserve a cabin(s), you must complete our reservations enquiry form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your enquiry, we will contact you via phone or email, to advise of availability and confirm the final price is correct. A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation notice and at this stage the deposit is processed on your credit card or your bank deposit has been received. Your deposit then becomes subject to the cancellation policy of the cruise line and Cruise Republic. These are stated in the terms and conditions.

When your booking has been confirmed we will send  you your cruise booking number for the cruise line. Once you receive your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date without incurring a penalty. If you are booking via phone, please first make sure you have read the terms and conditions. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the customer to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
